Commercial Photography Awards

Recognition from professional organisations for your work is great to receive. This month two of our commercial photography images received a bronze award from the Guild of Photographers ( in their ‘Image of the Month’ competition.

About the images

We shot the digital vernier to give a high quality feel to the image so it could be used as a brochure cover. The black background adds ‘depth’ and therefore differentiates the image from a standard pack shot. To make the most of the beautiful silver reflective surfaces, we lit from above and behind. Also, the displayed measurement reflects the new year we’ve just entered – set to 20.16mm.

The Wrangler boots were a different kind of shot due to lighting that was very direct. We aimed to bring out the texture of the leather, showcasing the tough nature of these workmans boots. While ‘flat’ lighting is often used, other forms of lighting are almost always better for a shot like this.  The correct lighting will tell your customers more about the texture and quality of your product. This is especially relevant for online sales where customers cannot touch the product.

About the awards

The Guild defines their ‘Bronze’ award as ‘Images of a strong standard at a national competition level’. There are over 1000 entries into the competition each month. Only a small percentage of the images entered get an award of any level. To achieve two awards in the same month is a strong endorsement of our quality, hence our delight!
